Second Seafood Market
If you're cruising through Houston and your stomach’s begging for something fried and flavorful, Second Seafood Market is your next must-stop. Tucked away at 13899 S Post Oak Rd, this no-frills joint has a local cult following—and for good reason.
Right when you step in, the smell of sizzling seafood hits you, and honestly, it’s hard not to order one of everything. One of their biggest crowd-pleasers? The Fried Catfish. Crispy, golden, seasoned just right—it’s Southern comfort on a plate. Craving wings instead? Their Chicken Wings come out hot, juicy, and fried to perfection, often paired with a side of spicy dipping sauce that regulars can’t stop raving about.
Now, let’s talk about portions. You’re not leaving here hungry. Whether you're going for a plate of Shrimp Fried Rice or digging into a stack of Chicken Strips, they serve it up like they know you’ve been waiting all day. The menu is one of those you glance at quickly but end up staring at for a while because, truthfully, it’s hard to choose just one thing.
What gives Second Seafood Market its charm, though, isn’t just the food—it’s that laid-back, no-pressure vibe. The kind of place where you can pull up, grab a styrofoam box full of crispy goodness, and just vibe. Whether you're a fried seafood fanatic or someone just passing through, this spot makes an impression.

Always hot, fresh and delicious food. Service depends on who's there when you pick up your order. Mostly friendly staff but once in a while you will get the rude dismissive lady. I always order to go, make sure you call in your order or you will be waiting a long while. Which is cool because that's why your food is always hot and fresh. I think you can eat there now, the dining room was closed for a long time following Pandemic. I like the fried catfish, my son prefers the chicken strips and my husband likes the shrimp.I always get rice and they order fries.
I only wish they were closer to me so I could get their take-out more often. Of course, if you're familiar with this area you know there is a certain "charm" to this hood but as far as Second Seafood Market is concerned, they offer top notch take-out seafood for a very good price. I had the fried Tilapia and rice. If they were in any other part of town, they could easily charge double what they charge and it'd still be fair. If you're in the Discount Tire next door and hungry and thinking about eating here, keep in mind that they don't have dine-in but the food will taste just as good if you sit on the curb and eat it while you watch them work on your tires. Please don't eat seafood inside the Discount Tire...that's not cool.
Went to 2nd Seafood a couple weeks ago and omg the food is still good like I remember. Everything was hot and fresh. I ordered on the Yelp app and went and picked it up with no issues. My go to fish is Red Snapper and it was fresh and delicious. The spring rolls were ok but they were crispy and fresh. My son enjoyed the Red Snapper Sandwich it had fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Now to the shrimp they were a nice size and we're good as well. I love the fact they put the beansprouts in the fried rice. To me fried rice is not complete without them. Move over Americanized fried rice lol. I will definitely come back again when I have the urge for some fish readily available. Don't knock it til you try it.
